The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama, has promised to set up a Commission of Enquiry to look into the reported “plundering of lands” that belong to the Ga Dangbe people.

In a widely circulated video cited by hotfmghana.com, Mahama assured Ghanaians during a rally in the La Dade-Kotopon constituency in Accra that he is dedicated to resolving this concern should he win the December 7 elections.

He also voiced disapproval of the way the present government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has managed land matters in the La Dade-Kotopon constituency.

“Since the governing party came to power in 2017, nothing has happened in the La Dade-Kotopon area except the stealing of the lands of the La people,” Mahama stated, highlighting his concerns about the lack of development and the alleged land seizures.

He argued that the constituency has not been treated fairly under the NPP administration.

“Because I live in this constituency, I know the problems that you face,” he told the crowd, noting his personal experience living in the region.

The former President also contrasted the current administration’s performance with his tenure, recalling the significant improvements made during his time in office.

He cited the upgrading of the La Polyclinic as an example of the development projects initiated under his government in 2016.

Mahama emphasized that these advancements had stalled under the NPP, further motivating his pledge to revive development efforts in the constituency.

As the election approaches, Mahama’s promises are set to play a crucial role in his bid to reclaim the presidency.
