The Ghana Scholarship Secretariat has announced the opening of applications for the newly graduated Free SHS students across the country.
Speaking at a press briefing today in Accra, the Registrar of the Secretariat, Mr Kingsley Agyemang mentioned that, the online application portal is opened from today 1st December, 2020 to enable all Free SHS students who graduated not long ago apply to further their education to the tertiary
According to our reporter, Nyansah Kyeame Yaw Boadi who was at the programme, this move is in line with the directive by President Akufo- Addo prior to the impressive performance by the Free SHS students in the just ended WASSCE exams Mr Kingsley Agyemang reiterated that with an initial number of 400,000 students in 2017, the government began the policy with seed a money of GHC486 million and so far about 1.2 million students are benefitting from the policy.
He then further explained that, these students, but for the vision of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP, would have had their dream of secondary education cut short.
He continued that, the government has not only, through the free SHS, alleviated the suffering of parents, but the targets set for the policy have also been exceeded.
