Supreme Court Finally Accepts To Hear An Application Filed By John Mahama To Reopen Case

Following the ongoing election petition filed to the supreme court by the leader of National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama on 2020 election results. According to Mahama last year’s election was a “flawed election” and the court should order the electoral to organize a re-run of the election, no candidate had 50 per cent and above so Nana Addo can’t be declared as a winner.

 

On the last proceedings, the court debated on either Jean Mensa should be cross-examined or not. According to Tsatsu Tsikata who is the lead member for the petitioner declared EC chairperson should mount the witness box for cross-examination.

It became a great tussle between the lawyers of the two respondents and the petitioner. After the motion supreme court of Ghana ruled EC chairperson can’t be cross-examined according to the law.

Though the ruling from the court hurt the petitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata further requested the court should allow the petitioner to reopen the case. Already they closed their case before the last proceedings. The supreme has finally accepted to hear the application filed by counsels for the 2020 NDC presidential candidate, John Mahama to reopen his case in the ongoing election petition today.
