Three out of the fourteen (14) who suffered various injuries on Wednesday 11th November 2020, in a Gas explosion at the mighty Gas Filling station in Ho are confirmed dead.

The 14 including staff of the Gas station and customers were rushed to the Ho Teaching Hospital shortly after the fire swept through some commercial cars on the dawn of last week.

The Sound of explosion at the Gas station which is very close to the Ho Teaching Hospital drew the attention of residents who called the Ghana National Fire Service. But for the swift intervention of the fire service, the fire would have spread to the hospital.

Public Relations Officer of the Ho Teaching Hospital, Amos Jay in an exclusive interview with Accra -based HOT 93.9FM’s reporter, Ernestina Afake on Wednesday 18th November 2020, explained that, ” the victims were stable and the degree of injuries were varied….but on that same day, one was taken to the ICU because the person has difficulty in breathing. Subsequently three others were taken to ICU making four but unfortunately as at this morning we have lost three of those who were taken to the ICU one female and two male”, he confirmed.

According to him, ” currently we have two of them who have been transferred to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (RIDGE) because at the Ho Teaching Hospital we are yet to have the burns and plastic unit, and because this is related to burns, we are trying to manage it… but those of them who are critical, have been transferred to RIDGE hospital”. “Out of the three, one who is a male died early this week whilst the remaining who are male and female died between the night of Tuesday, 17th November 2020 and this morning Wednesday 18th November 2020”. he added.

When asked about the condition of the remaining eleven (11) Mr. Jay explained that, “the conditions of the rest are a bit stable but we are hoping that they cooperate because the burnts are severe and the medical team are putting everything in order to make sure we do not lose any of them”.
