Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah, a private legal practitioner, has emerged victorious in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary held on Sunday, July 14.
He secured 376 votes, defeating Nana Owusu Prempeh, the brother of the outgoing MP, who garnered 141 votes.
Among the other contestants, Akwasi Coker Gyambibi received only 2 votes, while James Owusu managed to get 7 votes.
The primary was organized following the selection of Manhyia South Member of Parliament Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as the running mate to the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
This necessitated the election of a new candidate for the impending by-election.
Five individuals initially picked up forms to contest when nominations opened, but only four competed on the day of the primary.
Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah’s victory marks a significant step as he prepares to represent the NPP in the upcoming 2024 election for the Manhyia South Constituency.
