We will no longer tolerate billboard obstruction- Mahama Campaign cautions

The Mahama 2024 Campaign has issued a stern warning to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating it will no longer tolerate any attempts to remove or obstruct billboards featuring their flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, or the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidates.

This warning follows an incident involving the Chief Executive of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), who reportedly pulled down a Mahama billboard installed by Alliance Media in Tema.

The Mahama 2024 Campaign described this act as “unacceptable and a needless provocative attempt to raise the political temperature in the country.”

According to a statement issued by the Campaign, Alliance Media, a legally registered Ghanaian advertising company, has the proper permissions and pays the required annual fees to the TMA and other assemblies.

The Mahama Campaign emphasized that it is utterly unacceptable for the TMA chief executive to dismantle a legally placed billboard that was rented and paid for by their campaign.

The campaign noted similar incidents in other constituencies, including Ablekuma North, where the NPP blocked an NDC parliamentary candidate’s billboard.

They warned that such provocations could lead to political clashes and violence, urging the NPP to respect the rights of others to advertise their political candidates and messages. They reiterated the need for peaceful campaigning and the avoidance of violence and destruction of property.
