A group of youth from Gonjaland have issued a strong warning to politicians who use their power to undermine the authority of Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom.
The youth, gathered at the Jakpa Palace, expressed their solidarity with the Yagbonwura and condemned the actions of some politicians who seek to disrespect and undermine his authority.
The Yagbonwura is the symbol of authority in the Gonja Kingdom, and all other chiefs, royals, warriors, drummers, blacksmiths, Imams, linguists, and politicians are under his authority.
In a statement release, the youth emphasized that the 1992 Constitution and the Chieftaincy Act of 2008 clearly define the boundaries between the chieftaincy institution and political power, and politicians must respect these boundaries.
The youth cited several instances of disrespect and insubordination by politicians, including Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, the MP for Damongo, who has consistently shown disregard for the Yagbonwura’s authority.
They warned that any attempt to subvert the authority of the King will be met with the full force of the youth.
The youth declared that until Hon. Abu Jinapor learns to respect the authority of the Yagbonwura, the King will not grant audience to any government delegation, political party, or person that includes him. This statement is final and binding on all paramountcies within the Gonja Kingdom.
In conclusion, the youth of Gonjaland have drawn a clear line in the sand, and any politician who seeks to undermine the authority of the Yagbonwura will face their wrath, articulating that the youth are united in their support for the Yagbonwura and will not tolerate any disrespect or insubordination from politicians.
