The Minister for the Interior has announced a revision of the curfew hours for Bawku Municipality and its environs in the Upper East Region.
Effective Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the new curfew hours are set from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM.
This decision was made based on the advice of the Upper East Regional Security Council and executed through an Executive Instrument.
The government has urged local chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and residents to remain calm and use peaceful means to address their challenges.
“We call on the people of Bawku to exercise restraint and channel their energies into ensuring peace,” stated the Interior Minister.
In addition to the curfew, there is a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons in the affected areas.
The Minister warned, “Any persons found with arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.”
This directive was officially issued in Accra by Henry Quartey, the Minister for the Interior, on July 23, 2024.
