The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has been bolstered by a generous donation from the German Federal Government, consisting of a mobile workshop van and 3,000 torchlights.

This donation, facilitated by the German Federal Police, was officially handed over at a ceremony attended by key officials from both countries, Ghana’s Ministry for the Interior reports.

Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Naana Eyiah, highlighted the strong bilateral relations between Ghana and Germany, noting that this donation exemplifies their commitment to supporting Ghana’s development.

She assured that the resources will be used effectively and maintained properly to maximize their benefits. Hon. Eyiah also expressed deep gratitude to the German Federal Government for their support.

German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Daniel Krull, praised the dedication of GIS in securing and managing Ghana’s borders. He stressed the importance of the ongoing partnership between GIS and the German Federal Police, emphasizing the shared goal of enhancing border security.

Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, acknowledged that the mobile workshop van and torchlights will greatly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Immigration Officers, particularly in remote areas. He added that the equipment will also support training and capacity-building programs for GIS personnel.

This donation signifies a major boost to GIS’s efforts in border security and underscores the robust partnership between Ghana and Germany.

The new equipment will help GIS officers perform their duties more efficiently, ensuring better security and management of the country’s borders.
