Richard Ahiagbah, National Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), narrowly survived a serious lorry accident on Friday night near Konongo in the Ashanti region.
The crash occurred around 1:30 am on the Kumasi-Accra highway while Ahiagba was driving alone from Accra to Kumasi.
Eyewitnesses suspect that Ahiagbah fell asleep at the wheel, causing a collision with an articulated truck that severely damaged his vehicle and left him with life-threatening injuries.
Paul Kwabena Yandoh, Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the NPP, confirmed that Ahiagbah was quickly transported to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
Speaking to GHOne News Ashanti Regional Correspondent Isaac Justice Bediako, Yandoh reported that Ahiagbah is currently responding to treatment, though his condition remains critical.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the NPP, with party members expressing their support and wishing him a speedy recovery.
An investigation into the accident is underway as the NPP community hopes for positive news regarding Ahiagbah’s recovery.
The party’s leadership is closely monitoring his condition and urging the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers.
