The Alliance Drivers of Ghana has enthusiastically welcomed Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s pledge to extend the driver’s license renewal period from the current two years to eight or ten years.

The drivers’ group expressed their delight, hoping this promise will become a reality if Bawumia wins the presidency.

Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to this policy change has ignited widespread support among drivers, with the group now planning to campaign for him in the upcoming elections.

Speaking to Hot News, Kwaku Boateng, National P.R.O. of the Alliance Drivers of Ghana, shared their joy at the announcement. He revealed that the group had initially submitted this proposal to the vice president and were thrilled to see it potentially being adopted as policy.

While some have raised concerns that the longer renewal period could result in drivers neglecting their eye health, Mr. Boateng dismissed these fears. He stressed that drivers must take personal responsibility for ensuring their vision remains adequate for driving, regardless of the renewal timeline.

With the promise of longer renewal periods, the drivers are optimistic that it will reduce the bureaucratic burden on them, making the roads safer and their work more convenient.
