The National Theatre of Ghana has officially unveiled a consignment of theatre equipment donated by a German Theatre Group, marking another milestone in the ongoing Ghana–Germany cultural exchange and collaboration project.

The unveiling ceremony, held at the National Theatre on Thursday, November 13 2025, was attended by management and staff of the National Theatre of Ghana, representatives from the German Theatre Group, led by Christoph Hans-Erwin Stenftenagel, as well as the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah.

The donation forms part of the partnership established between the National Theatre of Ghana and the German Theatre Group following a series of engagements and technical workshops conducted in October and November 2025.

The equipment, which includes stage lighting systems, sound equipment, and other technical theatre tools are expected to significantly enhance the Theatre’s production capacity and provide practical support for training and live performances.

The collaboration also featured a two-week technical training workshop for the Theatre’s production crew and a joint performance titled “MOMO”, which showcased the creative synergy between Ghanaian and German artists.

The unveiling of the equipment symbolizes the sustainability of this partnership and the tangible benefits of international cultural cooperation.

Speaking at the ceremony, the acting Executive Director of the National Theatre, Mr. Henry Herbert Malm expressed appreciation to the German delegation for their generosity and vision, describing the donation as a timely boost to Ghana’s creative infrastructure.

The Project Lead of the German delegation, Christoph Hans-Erwin Stenftenagel expressed his appreciation to the management and staff of the National Theatre for the collaboration.

He stated the valuable experience he together with his team gained and looks forward to future collaborations with the Theatre.

Hon. Yussif Issaka Jajah, the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts expressed the government of Ghana’s appreciation and assured the German delegation that the equipment will be put to judicious use.

The event underscores the Theatre’s ongoing efforts to build global partnerships that strengthen Ghana’s creative ecosystem and position the National Theatre as a center of excellence for performance, education, and artistic exchange.
