The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has dismissed as false claims circulating on social media that the Chief Executive Officer of Kivo, a popular Ghanaian packaged food brand, has been arrested over alleged drug trafficking, theheraldghana.com reports.
The reports gained traction following a post by broadcaster Saddick Adams (@SaddickAdams) on X, in which he stated that a manager of a “hugely popular Ghanaian packaged food brand” had been remanded in custody for allegedly attempting to traffic cocaine out of Ghana.
According to the post, the Deputy Director of NACOC had told Angel TV that the manager of the unnamed brand concealed substances suspected to be cocaine in the company’s products and was arrested at the airport.
However, sources within NACOC have denied that the CEO of Kivo has been arrested in connection with any such incident, describing the claims as inaccurate.
The Commission has not publicly named any company in relation to the alleged arrest.
The matter continues to generate discussion online, but officials insist that the viral reports linking Kivo’s CEO to drug trafficking are unfounded.
