The Ghana Fencing Association has secured a one-year International Fencing Federation (FIE) coaching scholarship for Rita Sosu at ETA University College in South Africa.
Sosu arrived in South Africa on February 28, 2026, becoming the sixth Ghanaian to benefit from the fully funded FIE coaching programme.
The course forms part of the FIE’s broader initiative to develop and strengthen fencing across Africa by equipping selected candidates with technical and coaching expertise.
Upon completion of the programme, Sosu is expected to undertake a one-year national service assignment in one of Ghana’s 16 regions to help expand and promote fencing at the grassroots level.
Officials of the Ghana Fencing Association say the scholarship underscores their continued commitment to athlete and coach development, adding that the opportunity will significantly enhance Sosu’s technical capacity and contribute to the long-term growth of fencing in Ghana.
