Legendary rapper Nii Addo Quaynor, better known as Tinny, has revealed that Lord Kenya is the greatest Ghanaian rapper of all time.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hot 93.9FM’s ‘Hot Weekend Jam—hosted by DJ Lord Dash—Tinny said: “Lord Kenya is my greatest Ghanaian rapper of all time… I like the way he raps, style, lyrical content.. everything. He is the GOAT.”
Born Abraham Philip Akpor Kojo Kainya, Lord Kenya is a former Ghanaian Hiplife icon who is currently an evangelist. He joined Slip Music in 1998 and released his debut album, Sika Card, which became an instant national hit.
He has seven albums to his credit: Sika Card, Sika Baa, Yeesom Sika (which topped the charts in Ghana), Sika Mpo Fane Ho, Akasieni, Born Again, and God Dey.
Kenya was notably the winner of the Hiplife Album of the Year at the 2001 Ghana Music Awards and received the Best Ghanaian Rap Music Award at the Anansekrom Festival in Canada in 2000.
The “Sika Baa” rapper had an encounter with the Holy Spirit on October 28, 2010, and has not looked back since. He is now the leader of the Face of Grace Covenant Temple at Ahodwo in Kumasi.
He launched his gospel album, Christlife, in 2011 and has since given up the rights to his Hiplife albums, stating he has no interest in their royalties. While he admitted the transition was financially difficult at first, he expressed contentment with his new life, believing it would save his soul.
