The investigative efforts of Hot 93.9FM journalist Kwabena Adjei have been proven accurate following a high-profile arrest in the Ashanti Region.
Kwabena Adjei who is the co-host of Hot Morning Drive, had previously spurred controversy by alleging that high-ranking members of the Church of Pentecost were secretly involved in illegal mining, or “galamsey.”
The co-host of the Hot Morning Drive show, specifically named Akyem Morso, was a location where church leadership was purportedly flouting environmental laws for profit
Those claims were validated this week when the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) apprehended David Bobie Peter, an elder of the church, for allegedly being the foreman of the Akyem Morso galamsey site
The arrest was part of a strategic sweep by the NAIMOS task force aimed at protecting the Kume River. The operation targeted several notorious mining hubs at Kyekyebiase, Bimama and Akyem Morso, the primary site where Elder David Bobie Peter was apprehended.
The arrest of Elder Peter not only vindicates Kwabena Adjei’s journalistic integrity but also accentuates the ongoing challenge of “galamsey” infiltrating influential social and religious institutions.
