As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to reshape healthcare, the challenge for nurses is how to embrace the technology without losing the human touch, compassion and personal connection that define their profession.
The growing presence of AI in healthcare has raised questions about its role in supporting medical professionals and changing the way healthcare services are delivered.
For nurses, the challenge is to understand how the technology fits into their work while maintaining the human connection at the heart of patient care.
Speaking at the TMG Health Forum held at Sika Hall , Dr Justina Yevu Johnson, Dean of Students at Entrance University said: “AI is here to stay; the question is how we fit into it?”
Dr Johnson, however, emphasised that technological advancement cannot replace the emotional support, understanding and compassion nurses provide to patients.
“Machines cannot replace the human touch, therapeutic communication and compassion in nursing,” she said.
The TMG Health Forum brought together healthcare professionals to discuss issues affecting the nursing and midwifery profession, including workforce retention, migration, graduate unemployment and the role of technology in healthcare.
Two healthcare professionals, Comfort Abire and Richard Beyanteng, were honoured at the forum for their contributions to healthcare delivery.
The awards were presented by the Executive Chairman of the Tobinco Group of Companies, Elder Samuel Nana Amo Tobbin.
