The man who allegedly killed and dumped the mutilated body of his cohabitating wife at a dumping site at Onakwase a farming community in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region says, the ghost of his dead wife is tormenting him.

Isaac Larbi, 22, says, he is unable to sleep as the ghost of his deceased wife keeps chasing him with sticks and knives.

Narrating circumstances that led to the arrest of the suspect, the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command Sergeant Francis Gomado said, on April 1, 2020, suspect Isaac Larbi who was at large was arrested and detained by Kwabenya Police together with his accomplice Nii Benjamin,23 years for stealing a motorbike at Onakwase in the Coaltar District.

Coaltar Police was accordingly informed and on April 2, 2021, at about 5:45pm Coaltar District Police went for the suspects and brought them for investigation together with the stolen motorbike.

On April 3, 2021, about 11: 00 am whilst suspect Isaac Larbi was under interrogation, to the utmost surprise, he started to have killed his wife Akosua Abigail, 20 years out of a misunderstanding that ensued and had dumped the body elsewhere near Onakwase about three weeks ago and the spirit of the deceased is now haunting him.

That after receiving such terrible and horrified news, Police organized and preceded to Onakwase in the company of the suspect to identify the location where he allegedly dumped the body.

Upon reaching the town, a mob of irate youth mobilized in their masses threatening to take their revenge on the suspect. The situation thereby compelled Police to retreat to base safely with the suspect without visiting the scene to prepare adequately to visit the location where the body of the deceased was allegedly dumped for the necessary procedure to be taken.

The investigators have since visited the crime scene.

Background

The incident occurred at Onakwase a farming community near Kofi Pare in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region.

Initial information gathered by Mybrytfmonline.com was that a misunderstanding ensued between the cohabitating couple about a month ago.

Abigail Akosua Larbi believed to be in her twenties, therefore, stormed out of the house with her two children including a little over two-year-old baby, to stay with the mother at Kofi Pare -a nearby community.

Three weeks ago, the suspect however lured his angry ‘wife’ to onboard a motorbike he was riding to the community under the pretense of hanging out with her, at a time the mother had stepped out from the house.

The young woman since went missing in the community.

Police investigations led to the arrest of an Okada rider suspected to know about the disappearance of the lady.

During interrogation, the rider gave police gist information about the incident but claimed the suspect briefly confided in him before leaving the community to Accra.

“The suspect after committing the heinous crime called the rider to bring his luggage to the Dokrochiwa community. So after collecting the bag he left for Accra on the fateful day” a resident narrated.

Further investigation by Police led to the arrest of prime suspect – Isaac at Madina in the Greater Accra Region on Good Friday.

The suspect was however reticent despite being pushed by Police detectives.

He later broke his silence to a family member who visited him at the Police cell.

An attempt by Police to take the suspect to the crime scene on Saturday, April 3, 2021, was met with anger by some residents who besieged the scene demanding the release of the suspect to be lynched.

Due to the volatile environment, the suspect has kept in a Police vehicle under guard which the investigators went to the dumping site where the decomposing mutilated body of the deceased was deposited to take inventories

They took the decomposing body to the morgue for further investigation.

A resident told Mybrytfmonline.com that; “the tongue, vagina, and breast and even the head were believed to have been removed by the suspect”.

Samuel Otu Larbi a former Assembly Member said residents are in shock.

“Three weeks ago the lady went missing. Meanwhile, the suspect had taken someone’s motorbike and rode to Accra. So investigation led to the arrest of the guy who gave his motorbike to him. The boy also opened up to police that the suspect asked him to bring his bag to him. So there was pressure on the boy to help find the whereabouts of the suspect. So he was arrested at Madina. The suspect was tight-lipped until his Uncle went to the Police cell to speak to him which he divulged the information. So the Uncle left the police cells and went to where the body was dumped to verify before informing the police”.

The acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sergeant Francis Gomado told Starr News, the Command was yet to be briefed on the incident.
