The National Chapters Committee (NCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club has advised the team not to play the 2022 presidential cup match against their bitter rival Asante Kotoko slated for Friday 4th March at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on ‘Focal Sports’ show hosted by Stonchist D’Blakk Soulja on Accra-based Hot 93.9FM, the public relation officer Kobi Jones for Hearts’ NCC stated candidly that:
” GHALCA should be innovative enough to stop riding on the necks of Hearts/Kotoko all the time especially when it comes to the presidential cup”.
” The Hearts/Kotoko rivalry should be protected to always maintain its status as a top rivalry game in Africa, if care is not taken, the rivalry will be irrelevant in the coming years… I will not advice Hearts Of Oak to honor the game” he added
Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will pocket 50,000 Ghana cedis each for accepting to play this year’s President Cup. The President Cup which is played in honour of the sitting Ghanaian president every year, will come off on March 4, 2022, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), organisers of the match, announced on Tuesday that both teams will share 100,000 Ghana cedis and 25% each of gate proceeds.
