An Open Letter To President Akufo-Addo

Mr President, Please, Either Clear Boakye Agyarko’s Name Or Else We Will Force Him To Publish Documents On The Ameri Deal To Shame

Hon. Kyeremateng Boakye Agyarko, whom Mr President Akufo-Addo controversially removed from office as Energy Minister, has recently, out of nowhere, been a target for attack.

Hon Agyarko’s assailants are drawn from both the NPP and NDC political divide, using direct insults and insinuations in chanting the same song with the same tune, and the same rhythm, they point to the corrupt, infamous and draconian Ameri deal contract terms. Besmirch mercenaries like ravenous Kevin Taylor, and some bird brain ignorant and piggish Ghanaian journalists of insignificant repute have joined the fray, roping in Boakye Agyarko’s name on issues that do not even concern him.

Of course, Mr. President, you hired him to be your Energy Minister in 2017, and you have a right to fire him, but it is presumed that much as you are deemed to be excellent of character, decision making, etc. in your stewardship of Ghana, your dealings with your appointees are ipso facto expected to be in absolute magnanimity and righteousness, very apt and becoming of a President of a democratic nation, not the type of a totalitarian despot in the barbaric days of yore.

Mr. President Akufo-Addo, please, remember that Hon Kyeremateng Boakye Agyarko has been with you through thick and thin, throughout your days of want and presidential aspiring ambition. He was your campaign manager from 2012, through to 2016, until you won a landslide victory and became President of Ghana.

This recollection should of course be in retrospect of when you held one another to your chests as bosom friends, patting on one another’s back as indispensable companions, and your greatest helper in achieving the ambition you had been longing for many years through many unsuccessful trials and attempts.

In your supposed magnanimity, selflessness and Excellence of character, Mr. President, please recall to mind that Hon. Kyeremateng Boakye Agyarko has over the years, built a high mountain of reputation to very high self-esteem for himself, for his business employers in the USA, and for Ghana.

At least, putting a Presidential Excellency aside, as a humane human being, in fairness, injustice, and as a professed Christian who is in a process of building a magnificent cathedral for worshipping the Almighty God, you could equally and ethically be your “brother’s” keeper, in exactly the same way that you cherish your family members and others who matter to you.

Mr. President Akufo-Addo, we are neither kowtowing nor are we imploring you in appeasement for anything. We are rather emphatic in our request.

We are yet to hear from Hon Boakye Agyarko, his side of the story. But since you are the appointing and disciplinary authority, it is incumbent on you to let the public know your good reasons for his dismissal first, which we have not, rather than relying on the highly speculative and malicious report put out by the Statesman and on Facebook posts by Gabby Otchere-Darko and Manasseh Azure on July 28, 2018. These are tantamount to dastardly crucifying an innocent public official in public, without giving him any chance whatsoever to defend himself.

Since in the administration of justice, you yourself being a “celebrated and well reputed lawyer of renown”, both sides of a matter must be heard before any prudent judgement can be made, we are emphatic in exhorting you to declare to Ghanaians what actually prompted you to, within a moment, whether out of virtue or hot hatred and malicious vice, tear down the former Energy Minister’s long fought for and won and well established reputation which he also has a right to protect, defend and preserve.

We are of the opinion that Hon. Boakye Agyarko might have faulted into committing a criminal offence, and so deserves to be tried and jailed if found guilty. You yourself challenged the palm tree justice delivery of Rawlings and Boakye Djan that brought about the public execution of Ghana’s former military Heads of State, so why, and what has changed?

Your Excellency, as Ghana’s Attorney General, you successfully prosecuted Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata in 2001 for causing financial loss to the State, so he served a prison sentence. Therefore, being a justiciar and a human rights activist, and as a national leader of high repute who is “intolerant” of corruption but rather an astute symbol of rectitude, we expect you to do the right thing in this matter that gravely affects the image and reputation of an honourable person.

Please, tell Ghanaians about his guilty conduct in office as your former Energy Minister, put him before a Court of Justice, prosecute him, and if the Court finds him guilty, jail him.
Mr. President Akufo-Addo, you have kept too long in being the man of justice you have long bragged about.

If on the other hand, it was out of a purposeful malevolent mischief, aimed at rather maligning and to cripple him from his socio-political ambitions, please, be obliged to clear his name by using the same means that is persistently being sought to damage such a flawless political personality.

Mr. President Akufo-Addo, please, failure to comply with either of the above options that we have opened to you, *we* will *FORCE* Hon Boakye Agyarko to make public all details of the fetid, disgraceful, and and noxious Ameri deal, including names of all persons involved for Ghana and the world to know.

Thank you.
