The Accra International Conference Centre(AICC) will be the Centre of attraction as it holds this Year’s Ghana National Gospel Music Awards on Saturday, August 27.

The Ghana National Gospel Music Awards is an award scheme designed to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication of various stakeholders and players in the Gospel Music fraternity.

Sensational UK-based Ghanaian Afro-gospel musician, Joseph Matthew has bagged two nominations at this year’s prestigious event.

Joseph Matthew has been nominated in the ‘ Artiste Of The Year (Diaspora) and the ‘Song of The Year (Diaspora) categories.

Ironically, if the organizers of the most prestigious Gospel Music awards scheme in Ghana will apply the true meaning of the scheme, then one artist who deserves to win his categories is Joseph Matthew.

In the year under review, Joseph Mathew took the music scene by storm with his hit song ‘Not Alone’.

Known for his powerful vocals and dynamic songwriting ability with a combination of sounds – ranging from Afro gospel, high-life, Pop, and Funk,  ‘Not Alone’ is guaranteed to make your soul move along with your body.

It’s a song of hope to those that feel hopeless, depressed, and thinking of giving up. Engineered live by multiple award-winning drummers, Francis Osei, the UK-based Ghanaian Gospel artist reveals in

It is undoubtedly one of the well-produced Gospel songs for the year under review. In terms of producing quality videos, just like the song clip for his blazing hit song ‘Nyame  Ye’, JM did not fail to sweep us off our feet with the aesthetic artwork, scenery, and choreography in ‘Not Alone.

Directed by an Internationally acclaimed music video director Martin Sean, the Not Alone music video was rated the second best Ghanaian Gospel music Video on Trace Africa TV Gospel music Chart.

Joseph Matthew’s rising success has transcended boundaries. He is one of the few Ghanaian Gospel artists to appear on music charts in francophone and Anglophone countries like Gabon, France, and Nigeria.

Another quite convincing supporting argument is that ‘Not Alone ‘ was rated 80% by Entertainment journalists such as Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, and Kwame Dadzie who have specialized in reviewing songs.

In the ‘Artiste Of the Year ‘ category, JM is currently regarded as the most popular and hardworking diaspora artiste in Ghana.

His newest single, ‘Blessed’ is currently in all the Gospel Music Chart shows in Ghana. The song is currently at number six on Adom Gospel Countdown- hosted by Kwamena Idan on Adom FM.

He is the only diaspora artist to be on the Chart. He also mounted quite many stages even though most of the shows were canceled due to his schedule as a Health Practitioner in the UK.

JM is also known for his humility and close ties to his roots. He has persistently justified why he is regarded as one of the pedestals of the Contemporary Ghanaian Gospel artists.

After delving through Joseph Matthew’s achievements in the year under review, he doesn’t only deserve his nominations but must win all of them.

He currently has the Ghanaian Gospel music on his shoulders and it’s evident that crowning him the winner for both categories will save the award scheme from spontaneous criticism from the general public.
