Starting Friday, August 2, the Korle Bu Chapter of the Federation of Allied Health Professionals will halt outpatient services at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
This action is in response to the hospital’s refusal to establish an independent body to oversee the operations of various health professional groups.
The federation, which includes the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists, the Ghana Physiotherapy Association, and the Ghana Society of Radiographers, among 15 other associations, has voiced concerns about the management of their affairs.
They argue that the current oversight by the hospital’s Medical Directorate is inadequate and call for the creation of an independent directorate to handle their concerns.
Dr. Francis Kwakye Antwi, the local Chairman of the chapter, addressed the media and warned that if their demands are not met, a nationwide strike will be initiated on Monday, August 6.
The professionals are seeking immediate action to address their oversight and management issues to avoid further disruptions.
