Lecturers Truly Deserve Better But End The Strike – Ameyaw-Akumfi Begs UTAG

The former minister of education Prof.Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi has made a passionate appeal to the University teachers association ( UTAG) to consider government intervention and end the ongoing strike.

According to the former GES director general who has once been a secretary to the association, the government is putting up measures in place to meet the demands of the association.

It takes time during the negotiating process and we will appeal to the lecturers to consider our wards and go back to work as he stressed.

UTAG has been on strike for a month now with the aim of meeting better conditions of service as agreed with the government about ten years ago on 140% market premium which the government has failed on his part.

Commenting on the issue on Accra-based Hot 93.9FM with Agya wusu Ansah on Dwene ho Bio political-talk show, the Former minister who is aspiring to be the national chairman of the ruling party Npp called on the executives of the association to cool down tempers and take time to meet their demands.

He finally urged the authorities in place to accelerate the negotiation process for a smooth academic system.
