This tragic incident occurred in Kasoa Odupong Ofaako Stool, where 30-year-old Kwabena Mensah was fatally attacked by his friends following a dispute over money.
According to police sources, the deceased and the suspects were friends and members of the Asafo group in the community.
The conflict arose when Kwabena Mensah and another individual demanded GHC 7,000 from a developer who had violated a ban on noise-making imposed by the stool.
Despite handing over the money to authorities, they proceeded to demand an additional GHC 200 from a different developer. This led to a confrontation between Mensah and the suspects over the division of the money, escalating into a physical altercation.
Edem Saglo, the deceased’s brother, recounted that the suspects assaulted them while they were at a drinking spot around 11:00 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2023.
During the attack, Edem himself was rendered unconscious after being struck with a stick. By the time he regained consciousness, his brother had tragically succumbed to the injuries sustained during the assault.
Currently, the suspects remain at large, and the case has been reported to the Kasoa Ofaako District Police Command for investigation.
