NPP Grassroot In Wassa Amenfi West Calls For Immediate Removal Of MCE


The grassroot of the ruling New Patriotic Party,(NPP) in the Wassa Amenfi West Constituency in the Western Region has called for the removal of the municipal chief executive of the constituency Mr George Agyiri from his position over poor performance.

In a  press statement forwarded exclusively to, the grassroot alleged that Mr. George Agyiri has disappointed the entire party fraternity and constituents by pursuing his own personal interest instead of working in the interest of the government.

“The MCE is greedy and selfish. He has neglected the party without considering contributing towards the success of the welfare of the grassroot.” They alleged

According to them, currently the Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Assembly is running without a presiding Member due to his selfish interest agenda against the assembly members and the party executives.
They reiterated that, since decades, Npp always wins the majority votes from the MCE’s hometown; Wassa- Mmosaesso but due to his abysmal performance, Ndc were able to win both Presidential and parliamentary votes in 2020 general elections.

They accused the MCE involvement in illegal mining activities (galamsay), which is currently ongoing within the shores of the Constituency in which the President who appointed him against the activities.
They added by alleging that, “the Mce has exhumed tombs of Wassa- Dunkwa traditional area cemetery for galamsey activities which escalated impending dispute between the Hon. George Agyiri and Nananom of the community.”

The group appealed to President  Akufo-Addo and the appointment committee to consult them and the Chiefs in the area before any appointment in regards to MCE for Wassa Amenfi West Municipal is made.
According to them, they would resist and even demonstrate against the reappointment of Hon. George Agyiri.
