Popular Ghanaian actress, Mavis Yeboah known in the long running comedy TV series, “Cow&Chicken ” as Maame Gyanwaaa may lose her sight if she is unable to raise GHS 10,000 for surgery on the eye.
Sounding sorrowful in an exclusive interview with Accra-based Hot 93.9 FM’s Ernestina Afake on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, the fifty-one- year- old said, she has been diagnosed of retinal artery occlusion of her left eye and fears she will go blind should she fail to raise the said amount.
“I have to do a surgery on my left eye. i can’t see with my left eye and my vision using the right eye is also very blurry. Doctors diagnosed that it is a combination of retinal artery occlusion and cataract and I must operate upon otherwise it is going to cause blindness” She lamented.
According to her, all efforts to reach colleagues and friends in the movie industry to help her out has proven futile. “My colleagues in the movie industry are complaining things are not going well with them and they sometimes do not even answer my phone calls when I call them” she sadly said.
She made a passionate appeal to the government and the general public. Maame Gyanwaaa who usually plays the role of a gossip in the “Cow&Chicken” TV series which also features ace comedians; Funny Face and Bismark The Joke said, her situation coupled with no positive response from her colleagues and friends
