Before viewers and listeners could catch their breath, he had again come out with a very catchy tune and flawless music video titled “My Story” which highlights how God has saved him from obstacles and hard times.
Years back when Ghanaian gospel music was tagged as ‘old Skul’, celebrated gospel artistes like Koda, Joe Mettle, Sonnie Badu, and Cwesi Oteng replenished the genre with a contemporary style of singing.
To augment the argument, at the 2017’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, for the first time in the history of the award scheme, Joe Mettle, emerged as the first ever gospel artiste to be crowned artiste of the Year. Just as it looks like the aforementioned artistes’ styles are also fading out, another saviour has emerged in the name of Joseph Matthew.
The UK-based Ghanaian gospel artiste, has changed the spectrum of the gospel music scene with his style of singing—a distinctive contemporary fusion which is finely mixed with urban highlife groove with Afro-beats and rap.
JM, whose music has gone down well with gospel music lovers in Ghana and beyond, is a household name on the gospel music scene in Ghana and the UK.
All his songs offer great inspiration to all Christians and most of the songs are mid-tempo with a beautiful rhythm and a great bass tune and drum beat to match.
The Gospel artiste whose talent goes beyond the borders of Ghana and his good music has led to a considerably good following on various social media platforms.
JM, who started his music career some years back has featured in a number of musical events on both local and international musical platforms.
At this year’s Emerging Music Awards,(EMA) which was held on Saturday, November 19,2020, the sensational ‘My Story’ hitmaker made history by becoming the first Gospel musician to win the ‘International Artiste Of The Year Award
