The Ministry of Youth and Sports on Monday made a cash donation of GHc50,000 to Sellas Tetteh, who has been unwell in recent times.

In an interview on Hot Focal Sports show aired on an Accra-based radio station, the head coach who guided the Black Satellite to win the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup expressed his gratitude for the cash he received from the Ministry.

” I am very happy and grateful for the gift the MOYS gave me yesterday and this will help me since I am jobless currently, I pray for more of these helps that will keep me going,” He told Accra-based Hot Fm.

Tetteh has been viral on social media recently after he together with the then-technical team revealed that money owed to them has not been paid after Dede Ayew’s Black Satellite team won the most important prize of the tournament he coached.

Ghana was in Group D with England, Uruguay & Uzbekistan. The Ghanaian team came top in the group. Black Satellites advanced to beat South Africa in the round of 16 competition stage held in Egypt.

After defeating the African team, they went ahead to beat South Korea in the quarter-final and met Hunguary in the semifinals.

Brazil defeated Costa Rica in the semifinals to meet Ghana in the finals on 16th October 2009.

Ghana defeated Brazil to become the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup champions making them the first African team to win the competition.

Further, Tetteh won the CAF Coach of the Year Award and the Sports Writers Association of Ghana Coach of the Year Award. He was also honoured by veteran coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, who ‘knighted’ Tetteh.
