The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has counseled Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as “Napo,” to ensure that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia never regrets selecting him as his running mate for the 2024 general election.

In his address, the Asantehene advised Dr. Opoku Prempeh, his grandson, to remain loyal and attentive to Dr. Bawumia’s guidance.

During Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s presentation on Tuesday, July 9, Otumfuo emphasized the importance of listening to and obeying Dr. Bawumia.

He warned Napo against actions that might cause Dr. Bawumia to regret his decision, stressing the need for humility and submission. The Asantehene’s message was clear: Dr. Opoku Prempeh should follow Dr. Bawumia’s lead and adhere to his teachings.

Addressing the perception of arrogance associated with Dr. Opoku Prempeh, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II defended his grandson while urging him to avoid validating such views.

The revered chief also expressed his appreciation to President Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia, and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for selecting Dr. Opoku Prempeh as the running mate.

Additionally, Otumfuo encouraged Dr. Bawumia to effectively mentor Dr. Opoku Prempeh. He asked Dr. Bawumia to inform him if Dr. Opoku Prempeh deviates or misbehaves, promising to provide guidance if necessary.

The Asantehene’s remarks highlighted the importance of mentorship and loyalty in their political partnership.
