Legendary Ghanaian actor, Mawuli Semevo has been involved in a severe fire accident and is currently battling his life at the hospital.
The actor’s house caught fire on Friday, February 7 while he was asleep and was rushed to the hospital for medical care.
Reports indicate that the incident affected 44 per cent of the actor’s body, leading to a respiratory injury that affected his breathing.
The cause of the fire is yet to be identified.
Beyond Burns International, an NGO which advocates for and supports burn survivors in Ghana and across Africa has initiated a campaign to solicit donations to cater for his medical treatment.
According to Executive Director of Beyond Burns International, Judith Cato Addison, the actor is in a critical condition after visiting him at the hospital on Saturday, February 8.
“Guys, this is very serious, from his head to his leg, everywhere caught fire and he’s lost all of his hair on his head and you can tell his whole face is bruised,” she said in a video posted on Facebook while calling for funds for the actor’s treatment.
“Beyond Burns International got an SOS that something unfortunate has happened. We came here today and veteran actor Mawuli Semevo has been involved in the severe fire accident. I came here to see him and his life is hanging in the balance,” Judith said in the video report posted on their social media pages.
