Founder of the Alive Chapel International, Prophet Elisha Salifu Amoako, his wife Mouha, and a domestic worker, Linda Bempah are to be charged with new offences for their roles in the accident involving the couple’s son leading to the death of two young girls in October 2024.

In court on Monday, February 17, State Attorney Ebenezer Yaw Acquah indicated that in light of further study of the docket, the Attorney General’s office would allow the police to conduct further investigations to determine the direction the prosecution should take.

He therefore prayed the court to withdraw the charge sheet against the accused persons.

Lawyers representing Prophet Amoako noted that they were hoping the prosecution would withdraw the charges but would not object to the withdrawal of the charge sheet.

“I was hoping that they would enter nolle prosequi. If the prosecutor wishes to withdraw the charges preferred against the accused persons, we have no objections,” Kwesi Eshun stated

Presiding Judge Samuel Bright Acquah, after hearing the statements granted the prayer of the prosecution.

“If the AG that brought the case is now praying for the withdrawal of the case, and the counsel of the accused persons are in support of the withdrawal the court has nothing to do. The prayer for the AG is granted and the matter struck out as withdrawn. The accused persons are discharged.”

But shortly after the proceedings ended, Prophet Salifu Amoako, his wife Mouha and domestic worker, Linda Bempah were rearrested by the Police who were stationed outside the premises.

The Police officers escorted them into the waiting vehicle after they exited the courtroom and left the premises.

Prophet Salifu Amoako, his spouse, and the domestic were initially charged with granting permission to an unlicensed person to drive. They all pleaded not guilty and had been on a GH₵50,000 bail.

They were arrested after their 16-year-old son allegedly caused an accident in East Legon on October 12, 2024, leading to the death of two girls.
