An accident at Mankrong on the Accra–Kumasi Highway on Sunday, January 11, 2026, has claimed the life of one person and injured 37 others.
The accident was confirmed by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The crash involved a 40-seater Zhong Tong bus (AS 7022-21) and a Man Diesel truck (GW 3969-U), both in motion at the time of the collision.
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus, allegedly travelling at high speed, collided with the truck.
Among the injured were 21 male and 17 female passengers, while the occupants of the truck escaped unhurt.

The GNFS rescue crew, led by ADO II Bernard Boamah, was dispatched at 6:59 a.m. and arrived on the scene at 7:07 a.m.

The team extricated the deceased from the wreckage, assisted the injured—including those already taken to Suhum Government Hospital—cleared the accident site, and restored traffic flow.

“The front of the bus was extensively damaged, indicating the severity of the impact, while the rear of the truck sustained minor damage. Our team worked swiftly to ensure the safety of road users and provide timely assistance to the victims,” ADO II Boamah said.
