Prominent Ghanaian football figure and former Hearts of Oak board member, Isaac Tetteh, popularly known as TT Brothers, has strongly criticised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over its decision to part ways with Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo.
Speaking in an interview on Metro TV, TT Brothers questioned the timing of the decision, especially after the coach successfully guided Ghana to World Cup qualification.
“I don’t agree with the FA, it’s the wrong time to fire the coach,” he stated. “Why the coach? Why not the entire FA? They have to look at it and rebuild the FA again.”
He argued that responsibility for the team’s performance should not rest solely on the coach, stressing that the FA and its technical structures play a critical role.
“Winning games is not about only the coach, the FA is involved, its technical team is involved, and especially the FA who appoints the technical teams, plus the coach,” he explained.
TT Brothers further cast doubt on the competence of decision-makers within the FA, suggesting that some decisions may be driven by self-interest rather than the best interest of Ghana football.
“Who are those in the FA taking those decisions about hiring and firing? Are they competent to hire? Or are they just doing anything for their self-interest?” he quizzed.
He concluded by warning that unless structural issues within the FA are addressed, changing coaches alone will not yield results.
“If we don’t solve it from the FA, we’ll bring a thousand coaches and the Black Stars will be the way it is,” he cautioned. “The timing is wrong; we should do everything possible for him to take the national team to the World Cup.”
