A police officer in Sampa Jaman North District of the Bono Region has allegedly handcuffed a man who contradicted to pay for a drink worth 2 GHC after consumption in his (police officer) bar.

According to the man, around the hours of 10 and 11 pm, he got to the drinking spot with his friend to take some spirits from the officer’s bar. But, after the consumption, he realized that he did not have the cash to pay for his drink.

Opetey did not accept the man’s plea to pay him the next day, he then used an old handcuff to shackle the man.

After several pleas from the victim, Opetey refused to unshackle the customer even after getting money to pay him back.

”I had to disgracefully walk in the handcuff home to borrow 20 Gh cedi to Opetey, but he refused to even hear my plea”, the handcuffed man stated in the video.

The shackled man with fear for his life as he perceived residents would assume he had escaped custody, decided to go to the nearest police station to be unshackled.

Unfortunately, the police stations could not help him because the handcuff Opetey used was no longer in use in the Ghana Police Service.

Reporting on Accra’s airborne mid-morning radio program, Aye hu, aired on Hot 9.9 FM, Abolowey stated that, the handcuff was last used under former President John Agyekum Kufuor during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) governance.

Meanwhile, after several attempts to visit police stations in the Region, has been lamenting for his life as his hands kept swelling refusing him to eat and perform other basic activities.
