Disappointed Patrick Vieira Reacts To Jordan Ayew’s Miss Against Man United

Crystal Palace coach Patrick Vieira was disappointed striker Jordan Ayew couldn’t get a goal against Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League match.

The Ghanaian worked hard and was probably one of Palace’s best players at Old Trafford but lacked the cutting edge when it mattered most.

On 75 minutes, Jordan squandered Palace’s best chance of the game. He fired James Tomkins’ knockdown across goal and wide with David de Gea beaten as Cheikhou Kouyate could not get on the end of it.

Palace were made to pay for that miss as Fred opened the scoring just two minutes later – the goal ended up as the winner for United.

Vieira said: “I believe that our front three could’ve held the ball better. I think we didn’t keep the ball well enough upfront. And I think talking about Jordan, of course, he had the big chance of the game and he didn’t take it.

“But on the side, I think he was fantastic for us today. His work ethic. I think he was the best player upfront.”

“I feel really sorry for him but I’m really disappointed for him because he deserved to score the goals that he created,” he added.

Ayew is currently not having any joy in front of goal for club and country. He hasn’t scored a goal this season with his last competitive strike coming in March when he scored a penalty for Ghana against Sao Tome and Principe.

For Palace, Jordan hasn’t scored since his goal against Leeds United in November 2020.
