Ga Mashie To Lift Ban On Drumming & Noise-making Today

The chiefs and people of Ga Mashie will lift the month-long ban on drumming and noise-making in the Ga State by 5:00 pm today.

The lifting of the ban marks the end of the 30-day ban on drumming and noise-making within the Ga State that commenced on Monday, 15th May 2023.

This lift paves the way for the celebration of the annual traditional festival, named ‘Homowo’ which is held in August of every year.

The ban applied to all forms of noise-making, including the use of loudspeakers, drums, tambourines, funeral rites, and roadside evangelism.

The boundaries affected by the ban are the boundary dividing Accra from the Eastern Region to the north, Odukpon Kpehe (Kasoa) to the west, and Osu to the east. Additionally, residents should note that all villages and towns under the Osu, Ngleshie Alata, and Ga Traditional Councils are subject to the ban.

During the period, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly personnel, Ghana Police Service, and representatives from the Traditional Councils with tags were the only services mandated to enforce the abatement of noise in the metropolis.
