The flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2020 general elections, John Dramani Mahama is put in an uneasy situation by a pressure group within the party.

The Cadres for Accountable Leadership demands for the collated results of the disputed election, of which if not provided in few coming days, all will not be well.

The group had issued a fourteen (14) day ultimatum to John Mahama to furnish the rank and file of the NDC with the internally collated results of the 2020 election.

The group had threatened to take drastic measures against John Mahama, as they claim his inaction to their demands will be most regrettable. The group wondered why such a critical information as a collated results couldn’t be produced for the party to appreciate the performance and investment that went into conducting and monitoring the elections.

Clad in colours of the NDC, the group held to placards that suggested they weren’t taking things likely with John Mahama and the party leadership.

They felt the grassroot are being taken for a ride, as they have not been accounted to for what the party did internally to reconcile the figures with the electoral commission. They had subsequently blamed the poor show in court regarding the election petition over the lack of accurate and reliable data to support their claims, as it was expected.

From every indication the group might not pardon John Mahama if he fails to respond to thier demands. Some critics sensed that the move is politically motivated, and a targeted approach to stain the credibility of John Mahama.

One other fact that supports the rationale the group had taken is that, the NDC by the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah during his testimony failed to produce comprehensive evidence of padded results as they claimed in their petition. The lawyers for the respondents learning of the deficiency on the part of the NDC argued for their claim to be quashed.

Tsatsu Tsikata who led the legal team for the Petitioner [John Mahama] had hoped to get the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensah cross examined so he could have some solid evidence to augment their case but that never happened.
