Actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has raised the alarm over the growing circulation of fake and harmful products in Nigeria.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Kadiri decried what she described as a surge in the production and distribution of substandard goods nationwide.
According to her, many food items, drinks, medicines, cosmetics and household products currently in circulation are poorly made, contaminated, harmful and, in many cases, outright fake.
She stressed that the issue goes beyond economic sabotage, describing it as a direct threat to human life.
“Dear Nigerians, I am speaking to you today with a heavy heart and deep concern about the circulation of fake products in our country.
“Every day, people buy food, drinks, medicines, cosmetics, household products, believing that they’re safe, but sadly, they are poorly produced, contaminated, harmful, and mostly fake. This isn’t a business problem; it’s a threat to human life. Imagine little children battling kidney failure,” she said.
The actress urged parents and guardians to be more vigilant when purchasing products, advising them to always check expiry dates and NAFDAC registration numbers before buying.
Her comments have sparked renewed conversations online about consumer safety and the need for stricter regulation of products in the Nigerian market
