Outspoken journalist and social commentator, Kevin Taylor, has accused former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, of being connected to individuals behind death threats against President John Mahama and his wife.
Taylor, host of With All Due Respect on Loud Silence Media, claimed in a social media post that Dr. Bawumia invited one of the controversial figures involved in a viral livestream that not only mocked the victims of the Obuasi helicopter crash but also threatened the lives of the President and First Lady. According to him, such an action calls into question Bawumia’s political judgment and moral standing.
“So, Bawumia invited someone who swore to take the life of the President and his wife to his office to urge him to go ahead to unalive the President? Damn!” Taylor charged, sparking heated political discussion.
He further suggested that Dr. Bawumia’s appearance at the state funeral of the eight officers who died in the tragic helicopter crash was insincere.
“Everything shows Bawumia showing up at the state funeral of the eight distinguished men we lost in the helicopter crash was fan-fooling. It wasn’t genuine and he was particularly happy about the tragedy that struck Ghana,” Taylor alleged.
Taylor argued that any association between the former Vice President and individuals who have openly wished Mahama dead represents a dangerous contradiction.
“If not, why would Bawumia invite someone who wished the President dead in the same crash that took the lives of eight Ghanaians on duty and also threatened to assassinate the President and his wife and keep them in sacks to his office? What the heck!” he asked.
His allegations come in the wake of the arrest of comedian Prince Ofori, popularly known as Fante Comedy, who was picked up by police over comments made during the viral livestream.
With the nation still grappling with grief and political tension, Kevin Taylor’s fiery claims against Dr. Bawumia have injected fresh controversy into Ghana’s political discourse.
