Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has finally admitted openly that he voted for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo because he is a better leader and competent than the former President John Mahama.
According to him, he also urged all his family members to vote for President Akufo-Addo, and he is happy the president eventually won the 2020 elections.
Allotey Jacobs, who has been suspended from the NDC, was speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, in which he opened up about some humiliation he suffered in the hands of the NDC ‘small boys’ in 2016.
“I was home during the campaign season. I didn’t go anywhere, I was home. I told the people in my house to vote for Akufo-Addo. I told them he’s a great leader so they should vote for him,” he said.
According to him, some “small small boys” around former President John Mahama stole his shine after he organized a fully-packed stadium for the NDC manifesto launch of 2016 as Central Regional Chairman.
It will be recalled that the NDC launched its 2016 manifesto at the Cape Coast Stadium, where Allotey Jacobs said he was tasked with filling up the stadium which he did but was denied a chance to even give opening remarks at that function.
According to him, after that episode, the party turned around and accused him for its massive defeat in the Central Region in 2016.
“After instructing me to organize and fill Cape Coast Stadium for the campaign inauguration, the little boys around the president ignored me. In every organization, when you have such a program it is the regional chairman who welcomes everybody and the leader but they changed the program last minute and removed my name,” he stated.
“I was at the program but did not do anything. I just sat at the back. I gave respect to Mahama as President and joined the campaign in the region, but I was not interested. Only the ignorant will blame me for the defeat in the region. When it comes to party leadership, they know what they did. No one gave me money for the campaign in the region,” He added.
Allotey Jacobs’ latest revelations will make it harder for him to have his suspension from the NDC overturned as he appears to be adding more insult to injury.
