The ad hoc Parliamentary Committee interrogating the Bugri Naabu leaked tape that contains a discussion about why the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, should be removed from office says it appears the first tape made available to the committee is doctored.
The Chairman of the Committee, Samuel Atta Akyea, who made this known said the second tape the committee has received is longer than the first tape already played at the committee’s various sittings, which the witnesses have given testimonies about.
He said the second tape appears to contain more details too.
Mr Atta Akyea said this when he spoke to the media after an in-camera hearing today.
Meanwhile, they had adjourned sittings and expected to resume sittings on Monday, October 2, 2023.
“The IGP was attending to some other important matter of national interest. We asked Bugri Naabu a few questions and then we adjourned.
We said because of the nature of what is happening, we want to do a thorough job and end quickly,” Mr Atta Akyea told the media after Wednesday’s in-camera hearing.
“The nation cannot be on this matter for too long. It has a bearing on the security of this country. The head of internal security, IGP, is part of what we are trying to interrogate, and we should end as quickly as possible,” he added.
