Traders in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region have voiced their dissatisfaction with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the lack of development in the region.

They declared that they could no longer be taken for “fools” and demanded tangible results for their unwavering support.

At a press conference held in Kumasi, Mrs. Christabel Amoah, an executive member of the traders at Racecourse, Kejetia, and Central Markets, expressed their frustration.

She noted that despite their consistent backing of the NPP, this loyalty has not translated into meaningful development.

“We will no longer vote based on party loyalty but on actual development outcomes,” she emphasized.

The traders pointed out that, despite not supporting the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the NDC has completed more projects in the region than the NPP.

Mrs. Amoah specifically criticized Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, chosen as the NPP’s running mate to garner their support. She argued that NAPO has not demonstrated the ability to contribute to the region’s development, particularly highlighting the stalled Krofrom market project.

Located in NAPO’s Constituency, the Krofrom market has been abandoned for many years, showing no signs of progress and deteriorating over time.

The traders warned that if the NPP government does not prioritize the region’s development, they will face a massive loss in the December elections.
