The Communications Directorate of the Jubilee House, an office of the President of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo Danquah, has issued a statement on the acceptance of the Trade and Industry Minister Alan John Kyerematen’s resignation from his appointed position.
In the statement, Akufo Addo accepts the decision of Minister Alan Kyeremanten to resign from the Trade and Industry Ministerial Office in an early report by various media houses reporting the incident on Friday morning- a day before the National Constitutional Day. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo also commended the now-former minister for his services to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavours.
However, It is still unclear why the aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party made a decision to put down his political tools amidst the economic crunches the country is facing. While closer sources claim and blame the minister’s decision on his focus on the 2024 NPP presidential candidate elections in the breaking-the-8 campaign under the NPP leadership, others have stated otherwise.
Meanwhile, Akufo-Addo has appointed Financial Minister Ken Ofori Atta as the caretaker minister to the Ministry of Trade and Industry until there is a substantive appointment.
